| you take my hand and it's just like all the romance novels you used to read aloud to me, deepening your voice along the male parts, screeching during the female parts, laughing through the lousy sex scenes. it's bright outside, just a little too bright, and the park is pretty, but filled with kids just a little too loud. maybe it's not like the romance novels at all. we walk without talking, your mind most likely on school and family and what we'll eat for dinner, but it's okay. i know you'll come back to me soon. "hey." maybe sooner then i thought. "yeah?" your thumb runs along my skin. "we're going to be bigger then this place, right?" i laugh, nod, sigh happily when you lean close to brush your mouth against mine. "yeah." |
